The best-loved hill station of the Galyat, set among pine and oak forests at roughly 2,500 m. Stroll the leafy mall and bazaar, walk the famous Pipeline Track between Dunga Gali and Ayubia, or trek up to Mukshpuri for sweeping views. True to its name — “the cold one” — Thandiani is a quiet ridge-top hill station of pine forest and open meadows. On clear days the views stretch across the Kaghan valley towards the snow peaks of Kashmir. Pack a picnic, stay for sunset, and be back at Republika for dinner.
Miranjani is the highest peak in the Galyat and, with neighbouring Mushkpuri, one of the region’s classic hikes. Enjoy a scenic two-hour hike, or a short 45-minute drive to the trailhead. In winter the slopes turn into a snowy wonderland; in summer, wildflowers and a sea of green.
Just a short drive from Abbottabad, Harnoi is where locals go to cool off: a clear mountain stream, shady picnic spots and fresh trout. An easy half-day outing for families — and a lovely stop on the way up to the hills.
A little-known ridge above the city crowned by a charming old bungalow in the pines. Reach it with a scenic two-hour hike that rewards you with fresh air, silence and wide views over the Orash valley — one of Abbottabad’s best-kept secrets.
